TECH NEWS – AMD is not letting NVIDIA get ahead of it in the video card market. At Gamescom, it unveiled its latest Radeon RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT models, which offer mid-range solutions for gamers at competitive prices and performance. The two new video cards will hit stores on September 6, and they are already generating a lot of interest.
The AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT are based on the company’s RDNA 2 architecture, which was already used in the RX 6000 series. However, the new video cards offer similar performance at lower prices and consumption than the previous generation. The RX 7700 XT has 8 GB of GDDR6 memory and can reach up to 10.6 teraflops of speed. The RX 7800 XT has 12 GB of GDDR6 memory and can reach up to 13.9 teraflops of speed.
The two new video cards are direct competitors to the NVIDIA RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 models, which were launched by NVIDIA this spring. These video cards are also considered mid-range, but they offer similar or lower performance at higher prices than AMD’s novelties. NVIDIA’s advantage, however, is the RTX technology, which enables real-time ray tracing and DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) features, which improve the graphical quality.
The AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT video cards are therefore good alternatives for those gamers who do not want to spend too much on a new video card, but still want to achieve good performance. The two new models will be released on September 6, and are expected to be in high demand. AMD says that these video cards will be able to run the latest games as well, such as Far Cry 6 or Battlefield 2042.
