Rebel Moon: Two Stars Get a New Chance After Their Movies Failed in 2017

MOVIE NEWS – Rebel Moon is Zack Snyder’s new sci-fi adventure, which promises not only an exciting story, but also a new opportunity for two actors whose careers were broken by their failed movies in 2017. The main stars of Rebel Moon, which will be released on Netflix, are Sofia Boutella and Charlie Hunnam, who both suffered a setback because of a disappointing movie, but now they can prove themselves again with Snyder.

Rebel Moon is a space epic that tells the story of a woman named Kora, who recruits warriors in the galaxy to fight against an oppressive government called Motherworld. The film will be released in two parts: Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire in December 2023, and Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver in April 2024. The film is not based on any existing story, but on Zack Snyder’s own idea.

The main character of Rebel Moon is Kora, played by Sofia Boutella. Alongside her, Charlie Hunnam will also play an important role as Kai, a pilot hired by Kora for her mission. Both were considered great hopes in the film industry, but in 2017 they both had a film that did not live up to expectations and pushed them to the background.

Sofia Boutella appeared in Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond, but the real breakthrough was supposed to come from The Mummy. The actress played Princess Ahmanet in the Tom Cruise-led film, which was intended to launch Universal Studios’ Dark Universe series. However, The Mummy’s poor reception and low revenue led to the cancellation of the entire film universe. Although Boutella also starred in Atomic Blonde that year, The Mummy’s performance certainly did not help her career, but Rebel Moon might change that.

Charlie Hunnam was in a similar situation because of another 2017 flop, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. After becoming famous as Jax in Sons of Anarchy, Hunnam also appeared in films such as Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak or The Lost City of Z. He hoped to show himself as a true protagonist as King Arthur. Although the film was originally planned as a six-part series, the sequels were canceled due to King Arthur’s poor performance. Hunnam continued acting, but did not get involved in any bigger project until Rebel Moon.

Rebel Moon will therefore not only be a new sci-fi franchise from Zack Snyder, but also a new chance for two actors who were failed by their movies in 2017. Hopefully, Rebel Moon will show that Boutella and Hunnam can impress the audience and return to the spotlight.
