Very Bad News Arrive For Alone In The Dark Fans!

THQ felt that the spooky Alone in the Dark reboot needed some separation from its busy October release date…

Amidst a busy October of video game releases, the Alone in the Dark reboot might have taken a back seat to adventurous plumbers, dark places and friendly neighbourhood superheroes. THQ Nordic didn’t want to risk that, so the game will now be released on January 16, kicking off the new year in a scary way.

THQ Nordic made the announcement via the game’s official X-file, where they posted an image with the words “JANUARY 16, 2024” in large white letters.

The post also bluntly stated that October was too busy. The game would be better released without much else around it, so the date was moved.

“Horror games thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude, something that is impossible to achieve in a gaming month as busy as October,” the post said. “To ensure a breathtaking experience for everyone, we have made the decision to move the release of #AloneInTheDark to January 16, 2024.”

The move follows comments from one of the game’s main characters, David Harbour. He said his experience of the game was “limited”. Not what he expected. The actor recently spoke about the game’s motion-capture process. Harbour said it was “limited in its scope,” and while “it was fun to be a part of that, it wasn’t quite full born.”

In the reimagining of the classic horror franchise, players can take on the role of Edward Carnby, played by Harbour, or Emily Harwood, played by Jodie Comer.

They are investigating the disappearance of Emily’s uncle Jeremy. The main setting is Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally handicapped, where Jeremy was last seen.

The Alone In The Dark reboot is out now on January 16 2024, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
