MOVIE NEWS – Inspired by Parker Finn’s previous work “Laura Hasn’t Slept”, the horror sensation “Smile” took audiences by storm last year, and Paramount is gearing up for a sequel set for next Halloween season.
“Smile” turned out to be a delightful shocker for Paramount in the previous fall. Initially slated for a release on Paramount+, the film transitioned to the big screen and soared in popularity, raking in over $105 million domestically and a staggering $217 million globally. Its impressive earnings came during a time when many studios were postponing their fall releases due to the backlog from pandemic-induced post-production delays.
Fresh off the press this evening is the news that “Smile 2” is set to premiere on October 18, 2024.
Following the commercial success of “Smile”, Parker Finn secured an exclusive multi-year agreement with Paramount Pictures, with a sequel becoming an immediate priority.
“Parker’s pioneering success with ‘Smile’ showcased his innovative approach to cinema, and we’re ecstatic for him to continue his journey with Paramount,” expressed Paramount CEO, Brian Robbins.
“Parker has a knack for keeping audiences gripping their seats, and we’re looking forward to many more thrilling ventures together,” chimed in Paramount executives Michael Ireland and Daria Cercek.
