“Who came up with this nonsense?”
In the recent update of Cyberpunk 2077, an almost imperceptible tweak was made on a background NPC model within the corporate prologue. Speculations abound that the initial model was supposedly a brief nod to celebrity Elon Musk’s presence in the game.
A fresh biography by Walter Isaacson suggests that the world’s wealthiest man, Musk, made a personal visit to CD Projekt’s headquarters, brandishing a two-century-old weapon, demanding a cameo role in Cyberpunk 2077. However, this doesn’t necessarily confirm his inclusion in the game.
When a Twitter user showcased before-and-after screenshots voicing out an exclamation, “Goodness, they’ve removed the Elon Musk cameo from the Cyberpunk 2077 Corpo introduction!”, Patrick K. Mills, the lead quest designer, couldn’t hold back a response.
“That wasn’t Elon musk, it looks nothing like him”
he penned, further adding:
“Who came up with this nonsense?”

While Mills didn’t deny the possibility of Musk dropping by the studio armed with an age-old firearm, expressing a desire to be integrated into the game, he remarked: “I wasn’t present, I can’t say.” However, he firmly asserted that the debated NPC is not Musk, stating: “even if this is the case, it doesn’t mean this seemingly random Japanese character is meant to represent him.”.
