TECH NEWS – The iPhone 15 Pro Max barely beat the Galaxy S23 Ultra, so Samsung may have done slightly better than Apple in crash tests (we reported on this recently), but there’s not much separating the two devices in terms of performance.
The eight gigabytes of RAM on Apple’s phone helped a lot, if PhoneBuff’s video is anything to go by. Apple’s A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM are the two biggest upgrades in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which initially trailed the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but in tests the victory went back and forth between the devices from the US and South Korean tech companies. At the end of the first round, the iPhone won with a time of 1:58, just two seconds behind the Galaxy (which finished in under two minutes).
If the Cupertino tech giant hadn’t packed eight gigabytes of RAM into its Pro devices, it surely would have failed in the second round. The iPhone 15 Pro Max was able to keep all apps open in the background and finished in 2:45, but the Android phone was just four seconds behind. The temperature of the two phones was also a point of contention (there have been reports of the iPhone overheating, which could lead to performance degradation), but Apple’s device was still one degree Celsius warmer than Samsung’s.
So Apple’s phone may have beaten Samsung by a small margin, but the South Korean company will be launching the Galaxy S24 Ultra in a few months, which (if the evolution between the iPhone 14 and 15 is anything to go by) will probably beat Apple’s top-of-the-line 6.7-inch model, which recently began its conquest of the world.
The only question now is how much faster this phone will be, because if Samsung only minimally reduces its disadvantage here, it’s just a pendulum swinging back and forth between Samsung and Apple…
