Why Was Glenn’s Death So Controversial In The Walking Dead?! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Emergency room doctor Jordan Wagner analysed Glenn’s brutal death scene in season 7 of The Walking Dead, explaining how such a head injury affects the body.

The ER doctor examined Glenn’s death scene in The Walking Dead season 7. He analysed in detail the medical implications of the various elements of the brutal baseball bat attack. The Walking Dead ended last year, with countless characters dying during the show’s 11 seasons. However, the death of Glenn, played by Steven Yeun, in season 7 remains one of the most brutal deaths of the series.

In a recent video shared by Doctor ER on YouTube, ER doctor Jordan Wagner reacts to Glenn’s Walking Dead death scene.

Dr. Wagner breaks down the various stages of Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) brutal baseball bat attack on Glenn’s skull, putting into interesting context how earlier stages of trauma would be treated in a hospital. For the very explicit and brutal details, see the video at the end of this article.

Why was Glenn’s death so controversial on The Walking Dead?

By the time season 7 of The Walking Dead was released, audiences following the series had already experienced the deaths of several main characters. Among others, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), Andrea (Laurie Holden), and Hershel (Scott Wilson) had all said goodbye to the series. The series didn’t hold back when it came to showing actual character deaths in gory detail.

However, Glenn’s death in season 7 of The Walking Dead was different and proved particularly controversial. To begin with, Yeun’s Glenn was a beloved character. From the beginning, he was a part of the show, growing from a naive teenager to Maggie’s (Lauren Cohan) savvy zombie-slaying husband.

Although his death alone would probably have caused some audience revulsion, it was the nature of the murder that proved to be the real problem.

Glenn’s death seemed to some to be cruel and excessive. Even more so than the death of any other Walking Dead character. It happened moments after Negan killed Abraham (Michael Cudlitz). So it was unexpected, but it also showed every gory detail imaginable. It is incredibly shocking to watch a man’s head being smashed to pieces with a baseball bat. The criticisms that TWD was too much of a shocker suddenly seemed more justified after Glenn’s death. Especially when you consider that this happened not long after the infamous Glenn death fake in season 6.
