Should We Expect “Sad, Frustrating” PlayStation News? [VIDEO]

David Jaffe (formerly of Twisted Metal and God of War fame) claims that Sony’s short-term future looks bleak.

“I think I’ve been clear in my posts, but to be clear, if the news is confirmed tomorrow – and I think it should be. This is not DEATH TO PLAYSTATION. It’s more of a sad state of affairs and a real fuck you to… well, let’s wait and see. But it’s not an earthquake like Sony selling Playstation to Hasbro or anything like that. If you love Sony games TODAY, chances are, MAYBE (depends), not too much will change,” Jaffe wrote on Twitter. It was his second tweet on the subject. The first paints a much grimmer picture…

“Sad, frustrating, potentially super disrespectful news coming out tomorrow about PlayStation if my sources are correct. I’m talking around it in this members-only video, but in less than 24 hours I’m sure the journalists will get hold of it and tell the story. It’s not a slam dunk, but these 2 sources (who both work at PlayStation) have never been wrong in what they’ve shared.  If it’s true, man… let’s just say that no matter what you do, never buy into the idea that your work is your family and your company is your life.  And IF it’s true, I don’t have the details as to why, but I can imagine, then, man, I’m telling you: the Sony we all created is mostly dead.  That doesn’t mean the new Sony is bad at all (I love Marvel’s Spider-Man 2), it just means… yeah… sad times,” Jaffe first wrote.

Timur222, who keeps an eye on jobs in the games industry, has tweeted that there have been cuts at PlayStation, and we recently posted about layoffs at Visual Arts Group, so there may be something to what Jaffe said.

Below is his video, and in it he says that the main person no longer employed by Sony is Connie Booth, PlayStation’s internal head of production. Although it’s not official yet, we think there’s something to it and Sony could be in real trouble.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
