MOVIE NEWS – In 2014, a horror short film in which a mysterious supernatural force lurking at the bottom of a swimming pool ambushes its victim caused a great stir.
The production attracted the attention of the two big guns of the genre, James Wan (Saw, M3GAN) and Jason Blum (The Exorcist: The Believer</em >), who began to capacitate the creator of the short film, Bryce McGuire, to make a full-length movie out of the story. However, he initially did not want to be a rope. “For two or three years, I just shrugged,” McGuire told ScreenRant. – Because here is a four-minute, cool little horror with two characters, sharpened for a single joke. How does this cool little horror film become a feature film? Then I thought that it’s not a one-size-fits-all material after all, because there’s much more under the surface if you stir the stagnant water a little. When we already knew where we could develop the idea, I immediately became interested in it. The mythology of the story was formed, which is located in its own universe.”
The hero of Night Swim is a baseball star (Wyatt Russel) who is forced to retire due to an incurable disease. They buy a house and with his wife and two children fix up the dilapidated swimming pool for recreational and rehabilitation purposes. However, in doing so, they also unleash a mysterious force that feeds on the house’s secret past.
