One of the best horror games on Xbox Game Pass is getting a big update that makes it even more brutal, just in time for Halloween. And a classic horror game is coming to Game Pass Ultimate.
Amnesia: The Bunker has received a huge update! In addition to dozens of smaller improvements, this adds several major features to the game. So the new release makes Xbox Game Pass’ selection of horror titles even more appealing, just in time for Halloween.
Since the beginning of September, Frictional Games studio has been sharing the latest Amnesia: The Bunker update. The biggest new feature introduced in the patch comes in the form of Shell Shock mode, which the developers call the most brutal difficulty level of the game so far.
The Swedish studio has announced that the latest update for the fourth Amnesia game will be available for download from October 25. The included Shell Shock mode clearly caters to players looking for the ultimate challenge. The new patch also makes the game more accessible thanks to the addition of Custom difficulty. As the name suggests, this feature allows players to fine-tune the game’s overall level of challenge. Custom mode can, therefore, replicate the experience of Shell Shock. Also, you can make the process of beating Amnesia: The Bunker easier by making it easier.
A notable stipulation is that both Shell Shock and Custom mode are part of Amnesia: The Bunker New Game Plus. Thus, players must play through the original version of the story at least once. Alternatively, the developers have also implemented a cheat that allows anyone to access both Halloween add-ons in the game instantly. All we have to do is select the New Game option in the main menu. After that, hold down any key or button for ten seconds, except the one that goes back to the previous screen.
The text “Unlock New Game+” will then appear directly above the Continue button in the lower left corner of the display.
The Halloween update also introduces a new level, the Training Grounds. The track will be available from the main menu after beating the game once. Finally, the patch includes more than 70 gameplay fixes and bug fixes, as revealed in the official changelog. (See the link at the end of the article!)
A horror legend is coming to Ultimate in honour of Halloween
Three new games have been added to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service. These are now available to subscribers. Two of the games are also available for console Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers.
But those who want access to all three games will need to make sure they’re signed up to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier of the service.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives subscribers access to EA Play. EA Play, for the uninitiated, is EA’s subscription service. For one fee, users get access to many of EA’s games, along with various other bonuses.
So, Ultimate subscribers can now play the critically acclaimed Dead Space remake in the cloud, on PC and on Xbox Series X/S consoles. In the meantime, vanilla Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers can play Frog Detective: The Entire Mystery and the first day game Mineko’s Night Market. PC Game Pass subscribers have already had access to Frog Detective, but this is the first time that the collection will be available to Game Pass subscribers on consoles as well.
New Xbox Game Pass games:
- Dead Space (Cloud/PC/Xbox Series X) – EA Play/Game Pass Ultimate only
- Frog Detective: The Entire Mystery (Cloud/Consoles) – Available now on PC
- Mineko’s Night Market (Cloud/Consoles/PC)
The Dead Space remake is clearly the main title among the above games. One of the biggest game releases of the year, EA Motive’s Dead Space remake has been praised for successfully modernizing the sci-fi survival horror classic. The Dead Space remake is one of the biggest EA games to come out in the last year, so it’s a big deal for both EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. And it’s a must for horror fans, especially now that the genre is in season. Happy chills to everyone!
