Xbox has announced that another exciting title will be added to the Xbox Game Pass library on day one of its launch next year.

 

 

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play a new indie title, Dungeons of Hinterberg, on day one when the game launches in 2024. Dungeons of Hinterberg was one of 21 Game Pass titles unveiled at Xbox’s summer launch. Fans were eager to see more of the ambitious action RPG.

Immediately after the unveiling, gamers drew comparisons between Dungeons of Hinterberg and Hi-Fi Rush – another stylised Xbox title. However, although the art styles seem similar, the gameplay is quite different. In the case of Dungeons of Hinterberg, the game set in the Alps seems to mix action and social sim genres. The town acts as a kind of home base.

The protagonist’s relationship with the people living in the town is directly linked to the events in the title game Dungeons of Hinterberg. However, the rest of the game feels more like a hack-and-slash dungeon crawler.

Xbox gave us a more in-depth look at Dungeons of Hinterberg at its recent Partner Preview launch. The Game Pass indie game got over two minutes of spotlight in the nearly half-hour stream. The gameplay trailer begins with introductions from the game’s two developers. After that, it quickly dives into the social aspects of Dungeons of Hinterberg. The reveal also introduces the exploration and combat elements.

Once again, the trailer aims to highlight the community component of the game. The developers have set what a typical day in Dungeons of Hinterberg might look like. One exciting aspect of the game is how relationships within the small town can influence how players tackle different dungeons. The video ends with a title screen confirming the 2024 release window, as well as the Game Pass and Xbox Series X/S logos. Dungeons of Hinterberg is an Xbox console exclusive. But the game will also be released for PC next year.

While Xbox made several announcements at its recent Partner Preview launch – such as a tense horror title coming to Game Pass on day one in 2024 – Dungeons of Hinterberg stood out for its mix of genres and unique art style.

Despite this, Dungeons of Hinterberg was just one of several games in the showcase that will be coming to Game Pass relatively soon. The service seems to be announcing new first-day games almost daily. The library is only likely to grow with the company’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
