MOVIE NEWS – Taika Waititi’s new sports film, in which Michael Fassbender plays a soccer coach, has the director’s lowest Rotten Tomatoes score ever.
Next Goal Wins gave Taika Waititi his worst Rotten Tomatoes score as director. The new film is an inspirational sports drama adapted from the 2014 documentary of the same name. Michael Fassbender stars as Thomas Rongen, a down-and-out soccer coach who tries to avoid being fired by taking on the job of coaching the failing American-Samoan national team. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Oscar Kightley, Kaimana, David Fane, Rachel House, Beulah Koale, Will Arnett and Elisabeth Moss.
Rotten Tomatoes has already compiled the official score for Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins. With 102 critics weighing in, the score was calculated at a thoroughly rotten 41%. This is the director’s lowest score to date. The only lower rating for Waititi’s project is the 25% score for 2011’s Green Lantern, in which Waititi starred.
