With just over a week to go until The Game Awards 2023, Microsoft is promising some Xbox news that fans “won’t want to miss” at the upcoming show…
The Game Awards 2023 will be held next week. Xbox has now hinted at an important announcement. In addition to being a show celebrating the best in the gaming industry, the event is traditionally a night of unveilings and announcements.
Fans are already gearing up for December 7 as a potentially exciting day for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as the service typically has a significant presence at the awards show.
But The Game Awards isn’t just a platform for Game Pass announcements. During the show, fans can also get a first look at some of the biggest titles of recent years. Microsoft specifically has a strong presence at the show. After all, the Xbox Series X console was also presented at this event the year before its release.
Now, Microsoft is promising “major announcements and other Xbox news” that fans “won’t want to miss.” An image hinting at the upcoming announcements is circulating on social media. The Game Awards will be broadcast live worldwide next Thursday, December 7, at 4:30 PM PT.
There is no word yet on precisely what these announcements and news updates will contain. But that didn’t stop players from speculating. One plausible theory is that Xbox could make an announcement regarding Activision Blizzard titles coming to Game Pass. After Bethesda’s games took off on the subscription service so quickly after the acquisition, fans wondered why Activision Blizzard titles didn’t do the same. However, Phil Spencer explained that Activision Blizzard titles will take time to reach Game Pass. All this is due to the uncertainty of the deal, which existed until it was finalized. Perhaps next week is the time to finally give an update following the $69 billion acquisition.
Of course, other announcements will surely excite fans for the upcoming launch. For example, according to a rumour, the Elden Ring DLC will be presented at The Game Awards. That would definitely make sense. After all, the Elden Ring was first shown at Geoff Keighley’s other big event, the Summer Game Fest.
Not to mention that publishers like Nintendo usually have one or two announcements due every year, so there’s a reason to tune in outside of the awards ceremony.
Two potential world premieres could make the event the best yet for exciting announcements. But many fans are choosing to tone down the hype. Still, Microsoft certainly sets expectations. The news could be anything from Game Pass announcements to Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Series X/S release date. Or they could even refer to something else entirely…
