MOVIE NEWS – Since Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most popular RPG franchises of recent times, it’s no wonder that publisher CD Projekt is looking for as many opportunities as possible to expand the universe…

CD Projekt is not satisfied with the success of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. (Not to mention the recently released Phantom Liberty expansion.) It’s also expanded its sci-fi world with the fantastic Edgerunners Netflix anime series, as well as board games, novels, and more. Among other things, with an as yet unspecified “live-action project”…

The live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk was announced back in October 2023 by the creators of Mr Robot in collaboration with Anonymous Content. It is unknown whether this Cyberpunk live-action production will be a series or a movie.

“A live-action project set in the Cyberpunk universe will enable us to reach an even wider audience. We are happy to enlist the support of Anonymous Content – a highly experienced and renowned partner – in pursuing our ambitions,” said Michał Nowakowski, CCO and board member of CD Projekt, in the press release.

In addition to not knowing if the Cyberpunk live-action production will be a series or a movie, we also do not know when it will be released. However, a recent financial report indicated that production could arrive in 2025 the earliest.

“In terms of the Cyberpunk IP, we’re going to be nurturing and developing it through activities going beyond the game as well – in the scope of the franchise flywheel that we have running. We’re not really discussing specifics here, but one of the directions we’ll be moving in next year is the project announced with Anonymous Content – but that’s not going to be the only thing. Again – more to come as we progress through 2024. It’s definitely not going to be quiet,” – Nowakowski said.

Nowakowski also hints at other projects for next year and beyond. For example, many people hope for a second season of the Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. As for the near future, fans can enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
