Emmy-Winning Team To Work On Live-Action Cyberpunk 2077 Project?!

MOVIE NEWS – Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest video game to get a live-action adaptation. But when can fans expect the upcoming project?

The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is expanding into a whole new medium, as a live-action project has been announced. Although the game’s launch has been a bumpy one, CD Projekt Red has never given up. Since then, they’ve made many improvements to bring it up to expectations. An anime set in the world of Cyberpunk has already been made.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix has been well-received by fans and critics alike and has won several significant awards, including Animation of the Year at Crunchyroll.

CD Projekt Red announced in a press release that they have partnered with Anonymous Content on a live-action Cyberpunk project. Anonymous Content has produced such Emmy-winning series as Mr. Robot and True Detective, as well as Academy Award-winning films, including The Revenant and Spotlight. CD Projekt Red is now looking for a screenwriter to “tell a brand new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077”.

The press release did not say whether the project would be a series or a film. It is still in the early stages of development. However, CD Projekt Red did mention that they are working with Anonymous Content Studios’ head of television, Garret Kemble and other members of the studio, including creative director David Levine, who was involved in the early seasons of Game of Thrones during his time at HBO. From this, it looks like the project will be a series. However, they are likely to wait for the scriptwriters to report back on their ideas before deciding whether the project will be a series or a film.

It’s also unknown whether the project will end up on Netflix, like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, or whether it will go to another streaming service.

There is currently a renaissance of video game adaptations. It wasn’t so long ago that all movies based on video games failed at the box office. They were widely condemned by fans and critics alike. But that has changed recently: The Last of Us has been nominated for 24 Emmys. The Super Mario Bros. Movie has grossed more than $1.3 billion.

Not all recent video game adaptations have been successful. Critics panned Mortal Kombat 2021, and it went on to gross $83 million. Similarly, Netflix’s Resident Evil series improved on previous adaptations but was still considered mediocre. However, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the quality of the projects produced by Anonymous Content have left fans with high hopes for a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project.
