Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment has apparently revealed that a New Game Plus mode will be added to the game in December 2023.

Remedy’s cryptic, but admittedly X (Twitter) post didn’t explicitly say that New Game Plus is coming in December, but it strongly hinted at it. Next to a picture of Alan Wake pointing his flashlight at a wall with New Game Plus written on it, Remedy wrote the following: “New month, new game… plus?”.

No details were shared about what the New Game Plus mode will include – whether certain abilities will carry over, new content will be unlocked, and so on – and Remedy didn’t reveal exactly when the update will arrive.

Alan Wake 2 was released on October 27 as a sequel to the original game, more than a decade after its release. Time hasn’t been kind to its quality, however, as theGeek gave the sequel an 8.5/10 rating in our review.

Alongside Baldur’s Gate 3, it also topped The Game Awards nominations. Alan Wake 2 has been nominated in the categories of Game of the Year, Best Game Management, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Soundtrack and Music, Best Sound Design, Best Performance (by Melanie Liburd) and Best Action/Adventure Game, with the full awards ceremony taking place on 7 December.
