TECH NEWS – While there might be such a powerful graphics card (it could be the previously rumored RTX 4090 Ti or the Ada Titan), it’s being listed a bit stupidly by a European retailer.
ProShop would be the retailer that rushed the whole thing a bit, as all the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090s released and sold by them so far have been renamed RTX 4090 Super. All twenty-four of them, reports Videocardz. The problem is that we haven’t heard anything like this about the updated RTX 4000 line. We wrote earlier that the RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super, and RTX 4070 Super could get a demo during the announcement scheduled for January 8!
ProShop may know something we don’t, but it’s still strange because the fact that retailers and card manufacturers have already been informed about the new RTX 4000 Super graphics cards makes it look like a huge mistake, because we find it unlikely that all RTX 4090s will just be renamed in spades by manufacturers who already have stock ready to sell. The other stupidity in the story is how much they are charging for the “supercharged” graphics cards: the same as for the base RTX 4090s…
If Nvidia creates the GeForce RTX 4090 Super, it will be even more powerful than the currently available (and already brutally powerful, but power-hungry…) model. This will be 100% restricted in China, so the US can slow down AI development in that country with this embargo. (However, we wrote earlier that China will still get a GeForce RTX 4090 video card called RTX 4090 D, which will be slightly more powerful than the yet-to-be-released RTX 4080 Super).
So it’s a weird situation, but for now it all seems like a silly bug (and it must have been, because it’s been fixed). And if it’s not, Nvidia will give us a nice rebuttal.
