The Epic Games Store has a surprise for Christmas: a free sci-fi role-playing game by an Xbox studio. The Outer Worlds Spacer’s Choice Edition has been added to the giveaway, with an immersive adventure. Epic Games continues its line of free games, including titles such as Destiny 2 add-ons, Fallout 3 and GhostWire: Tokyo.
The Epic Games Store Christmas gift is a sci-fi role-playing game from Xbox Studios. This year, Epic Games didn’t skimp on the free winter games. On the first day of Christmas, after the Destiny 2 add-ons, Fallout 3 and GhostWire: Tokyo, they offered a special edition of The Outer Worlds Spacer’s Choice Edition as a giveaway.
The Outer Worlds debuted in 2019 and is best described as a smaller-scale Bethesda-style role-playing game. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Fallout: New Vegas developer, made the game, which was their first project as an Xbox studio (though it was published by Private Division). The Spacer’s Choice Edition includes all the content that was later added to the base game, including the Peril on Gorgon and Murder on Eridanos add-ons.
The Outer Worlds is set in the Halcyon system, colonised by humanity in the late 2200s. The player controls a character awakening from a frozen state in 2355, by which time the greedy megacorporations have already destroyed the planets of Halcyon. Our mission is to save the worlds, but the outcome of the story is up to us. As in other Obsidian games, we have a wide range of choices in our missions, and we can be joined by several optional companions, each with unique abilities and personal quests.
This game must be downloaded from the Epic Games Store within 24 hours, with the next giveaway coming tomorrow at 5pm.
