Valve has also announced that they have officially stopped supporting Steam on Windows 7 and 8 (this was announced almost a year ago): “As of January 1, 2024, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. After that date, existing Steam Client installations on these operating systems will no longer receive updates of any kind including security updates. Steam Support will be unable to offer users technical support for issues related to the old operating systems, and Steam will be unable to guarantee continued functionality of Steam on the unsupported operating system versions,” wrote Valve, whose hardware survey shows that 99% of users are on Windows 10/11.

Right-click on the desktop shortcut, select Properties, and paste this into the Destination: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe” -noverifyfiles -nobootstrapupdate -skipinitialbootstrap -norepairfiles -overridepackageurl – so that the client won’t be updated in case you force it to start as well.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
