Apple’s Artificial Intelligence Will Be On Display At This Year’s WWDC

TECH NEWS – Generative artificial intelligence has become a top priority for the Cupertino-based tech company after the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Apple is also working on generative AI to compete with ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. At the moment, only a few services use AI, but the company is already working on some applications that use the technology. These applications will be released before the end of 2024. Siri will be one of them, as Apple is rumored to unveil a more advanced version at this year’s WWDC.

Siri hasn’t been very successful when compared to its technological rivals, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Siri struggles to keep up with context and lags behind Google’s solution when it comes to following instructions. There was earlier talk that Apple would significantly improve it later this year, as it will be one of the new generative AI features in iOS 18. The results of the big investment could pay off this year, as an improved Siri could be released by the end of 2024 (perhaps along with the iPhone 16 lineup).

Yuex1122 wrote on the Naver blog that Apple is going pretty hard with its generative AI technology and will integrate it into the new version of Siri. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has already talked about how the company is working on this, and the assistant to be unveiled at WWDC 2024 will be able to hold natural conversations with more advanced personalization options. The new Siri will work across multiple devices, so if you switch from an iPhone to a Mac, it’ll still work. There will also be an Apple-specific creation service that can be tied to the Shortcuts app and its functionality. All of this could come in iOS 18.

Apple may use an API to connect the services, and some of the AI functionality may vary depending on the subscription service. This is all still in the pipeline, so the company’s plans could change. The fact that it will be unveiled at WWDC 2024 is not.
