MOVIE NEWS – Cindy Morgan achieved her most tremendous success in the 1980s. Many people knew her from the comedy Caddyshack.
Cindy Morgan, best known for her roles in Caddyshack and Tron in the early 1980s, has died. The actress was 69 years old.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office said Morgan’s body was found on December 30 at his home in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, after his roommate called the police.
Morgan’s female roommate, who had just returned home after being away over the holidays, knocked on Morgan’s bedroom door but got no answer that day. However, she smelled an “unpleasant odour” coming from the bedroom, so she called the police to investigate, the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office press department said.
There was no suspicion of embezzlement. Morgan is believed to have died of natural causes sometime before police found her body on December 30, the sheriff’s office said. She was last seen alive on December 19.
Morgan rose to fame in the 1980 sports comedy Caddyshack as Lacey Underall alongside Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Rodney Dangerfield and Michael O’Keefe.
She followed the success of Caddyshack in the 1982 sci-fi film Tron, playing Dr. Lora Baines and her alter ego, Yori. Later, she mostly took on series roles.
Morgan – who was born in Chicago in 1954 and worked as a weather forecaster and DJ before her acting career – continued to play primarily TV roles throughout the ’80s and ’90s, including Bring ‘Em Back Alive and Falcon Crest in movies. It is interesting that she also appeared in The Fall Guy, the reboot of which is currently being made, starring Ryan Gosling.
