Wes Anderson’s Highly Anticipated Film Asteroid City Available from 20 January – Exclusively on SkyShowtime

MOZI NEWS – Asteroid City, the latest film from Wes Anderson starring Jason Schwartzman (The French Dispatch, The Grand Budapest Hotel), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow, Jojo Rabbit) and Tom Hanks (Elvis, News of the World), will be available from 20 January – exclusively on SkyShowtime.

Asteroid City, written and directed by seven-time Oscar nominee Wes Anderson (Isle of Dogs, Moonrise Kingdom) and distributed by Focus Features, stars a cast of world-renowned stars and a cast of popular stars, The cast of Asteroid City boasts a roster of popular and critically acclaimed actors including Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, No Time To Die), Tilda Swinton (Suspiria, Michael Clayton), Adrien Brody (The Pianist, The Darjeeling Limited), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Trumbo) and Edward Norton (Glass Onion, Birdman).

The story is set around 1955 in a fictional desert town in the American Southwest. Young astronomers and space cadets from all over the country gather for the annual Asteroid Day celebrations – but the scientific competition is turned upside down by events that occur. At a ceremony to celebrate the young astronomers’ achievements, an unexpected visitor arrives: an extraterrestrial. Asteroid City is sealed off, and the army tries to cover up the truth with a false cover story, but the precocious geniuses – like the young heroes of Spielberg’s classic films – hatch a plan to let the outside world know what’s happening.

But of course, being Anderson, there is much more to the story than that. Back in the East, the cast of Asteroid City are preparing to perform a play called ‘Asteroid City’. Here we go behind the scenes and meet the performers, circa 1955. The theatre actors, whose names are about to take wing, are polishing their acting to perfection. The film is undoubtedly as funny as any of Anderson’s works, but it is also more cosmic: complicated family relationships and new romances, parents and children, secrets, revelations and introspective, personal examinations of how adults can be played, the broad West and the grey East, all in the perfect balance with each other that only Wes Anderson can achieve.

The popular supporting cast includes actors such as Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Hope Davis (Your Honor, Succession), Stephen Park (The French Dispatch, Fargo), Rupert Friend (The Young Victoria, Pride & Prejudice), Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Do Revenge), Steve Carell (The Office, The Morning Show), Matt Dillon (There’s Something About Mary, The House That Jack Built), Hong Chau (The Whale, The Menu), Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man movies , The Florida Project), Margot Robbie (Barbie, Suicide Squad, I, Tonya), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Spider-Man movies in the Marvel universe ), Jake Ryan (Moonrise Kingdom, Eighth Grade) and Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park movies , Independence Day).
