MOVIE NEWS – The Witcher star Anya Chalotra is joining the DCU in Creature Commandos, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn himself has confirmed.
In a Threads post, Gunn confirmed that the actress – who plays Yennefer Vengerberg in The Witcher on Netflix and Jennifer Ashman in the British TV series Wanderlust – will play Circe in the upcoming animated series.
Chalotra’s DCU character is also not far from her Witcher character, as Circe is based on the Wonder Woman villain from Greek mythology: an immortal goddess from Aeaeaa with powerful magical abilities and supernatural beauty.
Since the DCU is a shared universe that includes live-action movies, TV series, and more, it’s also possible that Chalotra will return to the role in other projects. The TV show Paradise Lost is in the works. This aims to place Wonder Woman’s home island of Themyscira in the DCU. All of this might create an opportunity for Chalotra to appear in a live-action form.
His role in Creature Commandos appears to be relatively small. Gunn said all series regulars have been announced for 2023. Which suggests that Chalotra’s role will be more of a guest appearance. The main cast also includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbor as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky and Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus. Sean Gunn will be Weasel and G.I. Robot voice. And Steve Agee returns as John Economos.
Creature Commandos is one of the most fanciful DC stories. Suicide Squad’s Amanda Waller creates a secret team of monsters locked up by Batman and Superman…
