Elden Ring DLC Is Finally Coming?! We Have Received Reassuring Signs

A recent development could be fascinating for Elden Ring fans, who are eagerly awaiting the open-world game’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

The Steam version of Elden Ring has expanded its files with a new DLC pack. This suggests that Shadow of the Erdtree may arrive sooner rather than later. The Elden Ring is approaching its second anniversary. But fans still haven’t seen anything worthwhile from the game’s DLC. All they know is that the DLC exists and it’s called Shadow of the Erdtree.

FromSoftware has long added DLC to its games, many of which have been well-received by fans.

Expectations are high for Shadow of the Erdtree, thanks to the developer’s success with quality DLC. Unfortunately for fans hungry for more information, FromSoftware has been mostly silent on the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC since it was first announced. However, there are growing signs that this will change in the near future.

The latest hint that the Elden Ring DLC is coming soon comes from the game’s Steam files. This was poked by Ziostorm on Twitter. A DLC pack named “SteamDB Unknown App 2778580” was added earlier this month. File size and other details are not available yet.

While it’s possible that this was for something unrelated to Shadow of the Erdtree, many fans took it as a sign that the long-awaited DLC was just around the corner.

This is not the only evidence that DLC is coming in the near future. Back in December, Thrustmaster’s product page for an Elden Ring-themed controller said the release would coincide with Shadow of the Erdtree’s February 2024 release. The removal of the listing led many to conclude that it was a legitimate leak. Also, that the DLC will indeed be released for the game’s second anniversary.

The Elden Ring was released on February 25, 2022. So, it is possible that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will also be released on this day. However, February 25 falls on a Thursday this year.

The vast majority of game releases (including expansions) happen on Tuesdays or Fridays, so it’s possible that the DLC will be released on a different day in February – assuming it’s released in February at all.

The latest official update regarding the Elden Ring DLC has come from FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation. Kadokawa Corporation said in an earnings report that DLC development is progressing smoothly. But he decided not to reveal any information about his appearance at that time. Hopefully, the wait for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC as February approaches will be over…
