MOVIE NEWS – It’s very rare for a game to be effectively censored on the PlayStation platform, but that’s the case with LKA’s horror game and psychological thriller. Yet the horror game Martha Is Dead is now the latest video game franchise to be adapted to the big screen.
The film adaptation of Martha Is Dead, announced in a press release, is in active development and is being made in collaboration between LKA, Martha Is Dead’s publisher Wired Productions and Studios Extraordinaires. André Hedetoft and Andreas Troedsson, who both work at Studios Extraordinaires, will co-direct the film, with Hedetoft writing the screenplay and Troedsson working as cinematographer.
“Every element of ‘Martha Is Dead’ has been made with extreme precision and care. The complexity of the narrative has been meticulously planned, visualized and even designed with cinematic quality in mind,” said Luca Dalcò, founder and director of LKA, writer and designer of Martha is Dead, in a press release. “To bring this to life as a film is a dream come true”.
Martha Is Dead will be released in 2022 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Amazon Luna. Set in the Italian countryside near the end of World War 2, players will take control of Giulia, a young woman who unravels the mystery surrounding the death of her twin sister Martha.
Martha is Dead is one of many video game IPs adapted for other media. Some upcoming films based on video game properties include Eli Roth’s Borderlands movie, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Minecraft and The Legend of Zelda.
