Square Enix’s game is going to take up a lot of space, and if you think about the storage space on the PlayStation 5, the second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake will take up a significant amount of it.
PlayStation Game Size has tweeted that the 1.001.000 version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (this is most likely the disc release, and the first daily patch will come in the meantime, as it’s a trend these days for AAA titles to get a hefty update timed to the release date) will take up a lot of space on the PlayStation 5’s NVMe SSD. There’s 825GB of storage by default, but only about 667GB of that is available to users. By comparison, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth requires 145.25 GB! Nearly a quarter of the available storage for a single game is no joke! (That’s why it’s recommended to put a second NVMe in the console, as it’s already supported by the PlayStation 5… but you have to be careful which model you install!)
We’ve also learned that the game will be available for download from midnight on February 27th, so there are two days of pre-load, which could mean a lot for players with slower internet connections. At 145 GB, it’s no surprise that the game itself will come on two Blu-ray discs (we’ve already written about this in the news). And we can already guess what Square Enix will announce in the State of Play in a few days…
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will also get a demo. The size of it is not known yet, and playing the demo will give you the Kupo Charm – Survival Set item in the full game, to which you can also transfer your save, as the TitleIdForTransferring string has also popped up, according to PlayStation Game Size. We don’t know the release date for the demo, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see it suddenly become available on PlayStation Network during State of Play (early evening of February 7th for us, February 6th in North America).
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on February 29th for PlayStation 5.
