If you’ve ever wanted to play through the first part of StarCraft 2 and the Brood War expansion, now you can!
So StarCraft: Mass Recall is a massive mod, as it completely remakes StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War with new models and scenes. Since the second part of StarCraft is free to play, the mod itself is also free, so there is no need to pay for this project that has been in development for a long time. This is not an exaggeration: the modders have been working on it for ten years!
So, work on StarCraft: Mass Recall started in 2014, and by 2015 the entire StarCraft and Brood War campaign was playable, not to mention the three “hidden” maps, but the project grew significantly over the next nine years. In 2019, the project’s 7.0 update was released, making the game’s cutscenes available. Mass Recall, meanwhile, takes the high-resolution mission briefing screens from StarCraft Remaster and combines them with the full three-dimensional models from StarCraft 2. Today, the mod also includes Enslavers Redux, which brings one of the most famous StarCraft fan campaigns to the second installment. That’s a plus we can really nod our heads at.
Even the troops have been well taken care of. It looks like every unit has undergone a retro makeover, the portraits are classic, and most have custom models and portraits to match the factions and races. And even though it’s been more than ten years since the second StarCraft was released (and the original game itself has gone retro), the team’s commitment to development is incredible.
You can download StarCraft: Mass Recall at SC2Mapster. The mod was last updated in January. But we should report it anyway, because it’s worth a try, especially if you’re a StarCraft fan!
