Persona 3 Reload: Atlus’ New Remake Is Selling Like Candy!

Atlus has revealed release week sales for Persona 3 Reload, confirming that the critically acclaimed remake is the fastest-selling title in the company’s history.

Persona 3 Reload sales have already surpassed 1 million. As a result, the title became the fastest-selling Atlus game of all time!

The remake of the third mainline part of the beloved RPG series was released on February 2 for PC and the last two generations of Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Persona 3 Reload immediately received massive critical acclaim. Countless fans and critics praised its fidelity to the original combined with quality-of-life improvements, such as the ability to rewind time without saving the game.

The RPG’s early commercial momentum was matched by a wonderful critical reception, which Atlus confirmed. The Sega subsidiary took to Twitter on February 8 to share the game’s release week performance. He revealed that after just six days, P3R reached the 1 million sales mark worldwide. The speed with which the RPG reached this milestone makes it Atlus’ fastest-selling title ever.

Although the studio did not provide a breakdown of the title’s performance by platform, according to Valve’s own data, Steam was a significant contributor to the early adoption of Persona 3 Reload.

Looking at the bigger picture, another factor that undoubtedly played a role in this historic success is the fact that P3R is the first new mainline series to be released on multiple platforms simultaneously. (It’s available on all modern gaming systems except the Nintendo Switch.) However, that “new” tag comes with the caveat that the game is just a remake, not a completely new experience. But that only makes it all the more impressive that it was able to attract such a large audience at a total price of $70.

Persona 3 Reload is rumoured to be just the beginning

Despite the highly successful release, Atlus may not want to rest on its laurels. After all, some recent data mining attempts indicate that P3R will also receive at least one more DLC. This expansion is said to be a reimagining of The Answer. It’s an epilogue chapter that is currently missing from the game. However, it was one of the big selling points of Persona 3 FES on the PS2. Additionally, a credible Atlus insider recently reported that the company is currently working on three more Persona remakes. He claims that new versions of Persona 1, 2 and 4 are also in the works…
