Dragon’s Dogma 2: Exciting New Detail Revealed About The Game!

Just weeks before the RPG’s release, the director of Dragon’s Dogma 2 has confirmed a vital gameplay element that will have many fans excited.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will have unlimited framerates from day one! That’s what a senior Capcom official said, though he left some of the finer details of the statement open. This exciting feature boost comes just weeks before the AAA RPG’s release. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is scheduled for release on March 22 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Although the ninth console generation has been touted by many as standardizing 4K gameplay at 60 frames per second, that hasn’t really happened yet.

Not only are plenty of modern games still locked at 30fps. But even some older titles have been challenging to optimize to take full advantage of the more powerful hardware through backward compatibility. For example, despite significant fan activism, Microsoft could not increase the frame rate of the original Dragon’s Dogma running on the Xbox Series X/S.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 director dispels 30fps-limit rumours

In January of this year, there were rumours that Dragon’s Dogma 2 would not run at 60fps on either PS5 or Xbox Series X. You will be limited to half of that. The game’s director, Hideaki Itsuno, has now clarified on social media that the upcoming open-world RPG will not impose hard limits on rendering performance. “Dragon’s Dogma 2 will release with an uncapped frame rate,” the industry veteran tweeted.

Since Itsuno’s statement didn’t include a specific platform reference, some fans interpreted it as a promise of unlimited framerates for all versions of Dragon’s Dogma 2, after he announced it on social media.

The comment dispels rumours that the RPG will be limited to 30fps. But it remains to be seen if the undisclosed framerate will allow the game actually consistently to approach 60fps on consoles.

The only thing that’s certain after the confirmation of Itsuno’s feature is that PC gamers – many of whom have already pre-ordered the game – won’t have to deal with the frame rate limitation. If their machine is powerful enough, they can also enjoy high frame rates. Meanwhile, those with more modest machines will have to hope that the game’s PC version includes an FPS limiter. One that the user can configure. This kind of feature is helpful for fine-tuning performance and, in some cases, can even improve stability.
