Far From Home’s airship-based first-person survival adventure game: Forever Skies is coming to more than just PC.
Far From Home has announced a partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) that will bring Forever Skies to the PlayStation Store alongside Steam, making it a “console debut exclusive” for PlayStation 5. This means that the PlayStation 5 will be the first console to receive the game, with a possible Xbox version coming later. SIE is also providing development support in addition to funding, which will allow the game to be released simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC.
There was no mention of an Xbox Series port in the press release, but Forever Skies was previously announced for that platform as well. The wording suggests that it could be a few months after the PlayStation 5/PC versions, and that it will be released for Microsoft’s console. “Far From Home has teamed up with PlayStation to focus on making Forever Skies the best it can be for its console debut. So at the end of PC Early Access, when we’re ready to release the full game, we’ll be bringing it to consoles on PlayStation 5. Don’t worry though, this will not affect the ongoing development or release of the Steam version, which will be released at the same time,” said Forever Skies Gameplay Lead Andrzej Blumenfeld in a press release.
A new patch has also been released for the Steam Early Access version (it was released on June 22, 2023), which includes more than 45 new quality of life improvements. The next content update will bring the next chapter of the story, airship gardening systems, new locations, and new equipment, and will release Far From Home sometime in March or April. When the full game launches later this year, it will feature a single-player mode and four-player co-op.
This means that Forever Skies will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and PC later this year. The Xbox version will be released at a later date.
