The studio known for the Star Wars Jedi titles, Apex Legends and Titanfall is sticking with Star Wars, but now they may be doing something different.
Tom Henderson posted on Twitter that Star Wars: Battlefront III will likely not be made again (as it hasn’t been for a decade and a half) and instead, while it will remain on Disney’s IP, Respawn Entertainment will be doing something new. This is something he says people have been waiting for a long time. Since Star Wars Jedi: Survivor came out last year, a sequel to that would be too soon, so they might as well do something with Jedi Knight. It was one of the IPs that fans were speculating about, but Jedi Academy, The Force Unleashed and even Knights of the Old Republic came up, but none of them are real guesses.
According to Henderson, The Mandalorian will get a game adaptation in which you control a bounty hunter while the galaxy is still ruled by the Empire. It’s not a bad choice either, as Grogu, or baby Yoda, is still very popular and Respawn could capitalize on that to some extent. After his initial tweet, Henderson confirmed that this is indeed the direction Respawn is going in. It will be a first-person game where your bounty hunter can take to the skies with a jetpack on his back, and the gameplay will reward style.
As in the 2016 DOOM reboot, you can gain HP by killing, but you’ll have to kill your opponents in succession. You can jump, dash, and boost-slide, and your weapons include a wrist rocket, a grappling hook, and a visor to mark enemies and treasure. All of this will be accompanied by linear maps of the planets of the Star Wars universe. Henderson says the game is at least 1-2 years away from release.
All this sounds exciting, but keep in mind that this is just a rumor at the moment, so until Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment officially confirm the project, plans could change…

No, but Respawn is cooking a Star Wars singleplayer experience I think a lot of people have wanted for a long time. https://t.co/CRKqADcU89
