Twitter Management Laughed At Meta!

TECH NEWS – Mark Zuckerberg’s big rival has reacted to yesterday’s events.

Yesterday there was an unusual disruption in the availability of Facebook and Instagram. If you were suddenly logged out of one of the two platforms and then couldn’t log back in, that’s what happened. For hours, Mark Zuckerberg’s two platforms were unavailable, and Twitter made a lot of money because it was certainly the social media that remained available and many people used it while Meta struggled to fix the problem. Facebook and Instagram were restored by early evening Hungarian time, and Meta did not comment on the banter between Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino (Twitter’s owner and CEO, respectively), only apologizing for the problems.

Yesterday was the first major Facebook outage of 2024, and as soon as it happened, many people on Down Detector reported that the service was down, including those who would have only used messaging (Messenger) in those few hours. About 2 million people on the site reported the system was down, but the 2021 outage was much bigger and more people reported bugs on the site.

Meta’s apology struck a fairly typical tone for the company: “We know some people had trouble accessing our apps earlier. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and thank you for your patience while our teams worked to resolve it quickly!” Only in the meantime, there were still people who couldn’t access the Facebook/Messenger/Instagram trio. The company is increasingly focusing on artificial intelligence rather than social media, and perhaps that’s why the company was able to make a surprise dividend payout last time.

Musk joked about the Facebook shutdown, saying, “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working.” Yaccarino wrote: “Testing, testing… affirmative, everything is working fine here. It’s a little childish to respond to a rival’s situation when they haven’t responded, and it makes Zuck’s company look better.
