PUBG Battlegrounds: This Game Will Change Engines This Year [VIDEO]

Krafton has revealed how it plans to modify one of the first swallows of the battle royale genre during 2024.

It’s been a long time since 2017, and since then, many games have tried their hand at the battle royale genre. Among them was Fortnite’s battle royale mode, which eventually became the game’s main protagonist. Despite this, Krafton has continued to update PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which has since been rebranded and moved to a free-to-play model in 2022. Unfortunately, this move has opened the door to more cheaters, but they want to prevent that from happening as well.

One of the big things about 2024 in PUBG Battlegrounds is that we might be able to dig in. The plan is to deliver a vibrant gameplay experience, and with that comes destructible environments in one of the pioneering creations of the battle royale genre. According to a Krafton developer, an interactive world could lead to a broader strategic offering. For example, you can break down a door to throw a grenade through it. Digging a hole is also mentioned in the video, but Krafton is still talking about a number of other topics, so it’s not clear if digging a hole, for example, will be in the April update.

Weapons will also be fine-tuned with bi-monthly public tests, action-oriented updates will include a zip line, but there has also been talk of new game modes, better bots, better matchmaking, and user-generated content (UGC). There will also be an engine change: PUBG Battlegrounds will also be running on Unreal Engine 5. The UGC mod will give players more freedom, which Krafton says will keep PUBG a popular game for a long time because it will create an environment where you can create your world by your own rules.

Artificial intelligence models are also used to stop cheaters in their tracks. According to Krafton, the situation has stabilized, but they believe that this technology still has room for improvement, as there are still a lot of cheaters in the game. This system is mainly focused on the ranked mode, but there are plans to implement it elsewhere.

At least they are not neglecting their game.
