TECH NEWS – A change in the device already suggests that the AR headset won’t be available only in the USA.
When a product from an internationally known brand is only available in one country, it could be considered a bad move financially, as the R&D costs have to be recouped from sales somehow, and the limited availability means that the ceiling of the target market is much lower than if the product was available in multiple territories. Apple is well aware of this, and in the background there has already been a small change in the code of Apple’s Vision Pro operating system, visionOS.
According to the leaked code published by MacRumors, Apple intends to support twelve languages, but we would add that it is actually less than that, as the list will include some repetitions. One of the regions could be piquant, because if the AR headset is released here soon, it will be available earlier than its local rival. But let’s take a look at the list: Cantonese, traditional; Simplified Chinese; English (Australia); English (Canada); English (Japan); English (Singapore); English (UK); French (Canada); French (France); German (Germany); Japanese; Korean.
This means that the Apple Vision Pro headset will be available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Samsung’s home country of South Korea. So nine new countries could be planned. Samsung plans to launch its MR (mixed reality) headset in the second half of the year, which would put it behind Apple. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, has previously written that the Apple Vision Pro could reach more markets before WWDC 2024, and therefore he expects 800,000 units shipped for the year rather than 500,000, and he didn’t say whether this was just for the US market, but given the minimum price of $3,500, probably not.
The Apple Vision Pro will almost certainly be more expensive outside the US. We’re seeing the same thing with the company’s other products.
