Star Trek: William Shatner Reveals How He Feels About Captain Kirk’s Fate…

MOVIE NEWS – The actor believes that his last scene in Star Trek: Generations could have been more rounded.

This November, it will be 30 years since Star Trek: Generations was released. In addition to presenting the cast of The New Generation in a full-length format, the movie also served to give us one last look at Captain Kirk, played by William Shatner. We say the last time, because at the end of the nearly two-hour film – beware, spoiler! – we had to say goodbye to him in the most painful way possible, with his death.

What is the message of Captain Kirk’s death?

As you can imagine, many people have written about the movie and whether it was the right way to say goodbye to Kirk. Now, thanks to a new interview with the press, the 92-year-old actor has given his opinion on the film. Specifically, the scene of his death after confronting Picard’s “heir”, Dr. Tolian Soran. As well as the fact that it was not possible to give his character the attitude and courage that he should have given in principle.

“The entities that the writers thought up, when he faced death, he would face death with a sense of adventure. ‘Oh, what’s going to happen now?'”

“So I ad libbed, Oh my.” And I wanted that ‘Oh my’ to be ‘Oh my,’ like, dreading it but, but looking forward to the adventure – somewhere in between, you know, and it would be very obvious to you what he was thinking. And I never quite hit it. I never quite got that nuance that I was looking for. I had another couple of takes, but they didn’t understand what I was doing.”

This is how Shatner said goodbye to his most mythical character. Without – much to his chagrin – managing to develop this last scene. As the staff of the German Gamestar recall, Kirk was never seen again in his classic incarnation in any ST live-action project. True, in the third season of Star Trek: Picard, it was revealed where his body is. Most recently, we saw Kirk in the role of Paul Wesley in the series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Upcoming Star Trek Film and TV Projects

If you can’t wait for the new adventures of the sci-fi saga, the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery will arrive in a few weeks. In addition, a TV movie called “Section 31” is in the works, while none of the many rumoured movies has been given the green light yet.
