PlayStation 5: A Help Feature For Non-PlayStation Plus Subscribers!

The Game Help feature is available to PlayStation Plus subscribers (regardless of tier), but those who don’t pay Sony for the service’s online multiplayer and game library are missing out, and the company wants to fix that.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the arrival of Community Game Help on the PlayStation Blog. Pressing the PlayStation button on the DualSense controller will bring up the Hints Inside card in the Control Center. Not only will you be able to access tips provided by developers for currently supported games, but the Community Game Help indicator will show that the help has been created using input from others. These videos can be rated. Game Help is available via the PlayStation App, so you can check it out on your mobile if you get stuck.

If you’d like to share your knowledge with others, you can turn this on in Settings, or you can opt out, which will delete any videos you’ve shared so far. In English, go to [Captures & Broadcasts] > [Captures] > [Auto Captures] > [Community Game Help] and click on Join. You can set the number of videos you can share each month, and if you enable this feature, your PlayStation 5 will automatically record you doing certain activities in the game. This will be reviewed by a moderator, and once approved, our recording will be published. From that point on, the video is no longer on our console, so it doesn’t take up any space. We will be notified of the published video and it will not contain any footage from our microphone, webcam, or team chat, just the raw gamemnet. Depending on the game, chat messages and online IDs may appear in our video.

Sabrina Meditz, senior director of product management at Sony Interactive Entertainment, wrote on the PlayStation Blog, “We’re constantly evolving the PlayStation 5 console experience, and today we’re excited to announce a new enhancement to Game Help coming later this year: Community Game Help. It will enhance the current Game Help experience by expanding the library of helpful in-game hints to include videos automatically generated from gameplay footage of players who have chosen to contribute. When the enhanced Game Help experience with community content launches, Game Help will be available to all PlayStation 5 gamers, with or without a PlayStation Plus subscription. For supported games, PlayStation 5 players will be able to contribute their gameplay, view hints from other players, or access Game Help hints created by developers. Game developers will also continue to be able to create their own video hints, as seen in popular titles available today such as The Last of Us Part II Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”.

Community Game Help will launch later this year.
