Sony is rumored to be preparing another broadcast, but we don’t know how big of a show to expect yet, so it’s still up in the air which branding the company will use in May to announce new information about games coming to PlayStation 5.
Giant Bomb editor Jeff Grubb has talked about how Sony is planning either a PlayStation Showcase or a State of Play broadcast during the last month of spring. Grubb believes that the show will feature Silent Hill 2 Remake, which we recently reported is being evaluated by the ESRB, and therefore James Sunderland’s story could be a key game in the broadcast, as it’s here that Sony can say when exactly Konami and Bloober Team’s title will be released, as the remake is only given a vague 2024.
“I’ve heard that there will be a PlayStation something, either a State of Play or a Showcase, next month in May, so [Silent Hill 2 Remake] will probably be there. I’ve heard both a showcase and maybe a State of Play. It seems like [Sony] might be leaning towards a Showcase, it’s definitely in the timeframe of when they did the Showcase last year,” Grubb said.
The PlayStation Showcase could also come in handy for Sony, as the company held a similar show last May. At that time, it was over an hour long, and during the PlayStation Showcase, more than thirty games were discussed (Helldivers 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Marathon, Foamstars, Fairgame$, Concord) and even a hardware announcement was made when the PlayStation Portal was revealed.
If the PlayStation Showcase is finally the place for Sony, will the company announce the long-rumored PlayStation 5 Pro? Beyond that, can Sony scrape together enough games to showcase?
