Ubisoft has introduced special editions of Star Wars Outlaws – in fact, pre-orderers will be able to play the game sooner!
If there’s one game that’s really building anticipation for 2024, it’s Ubisoft’s promising Star Wars Outlaws, which finally has a release date and a new story trailer. From the latter, we can get to know more closely what dangers we will have to face in the galactic adventure interspersed with an open-world action game developed by the creators of The Division. The day chosen for the big premiere? The surprise is that we don’t have to wait until the end of the year, as the new Star Wars will be released on PC and consoles on August 30th.
Head to the underworld of Star Wars!
The story of Outlaws follows a bounty hunter named Kay Vess. As such, we explore the underworld of the Star Wars universe, where we come into contact with the most influential and dangerous criminal gangs in the galaxy. The excuse? The leader of the dreaded crime syndicate, Zerek Besh, has him in his crosshairs, and the only way to earn his freedom is to “pull off the biggest heist of all time.”
To do this, Kay and Nix make deals with the most dangerous outlaws in the galaxy, increasing their reputation among criminal organizations such as Pyke, the Hutt Kartell, Crimson Dawn, and a new faction created specifically by Massive, called the Ashiga Clan.
In addition, as we saw in the trailer, Star Wars titans, such as the evil Jabba the Hutt, will also appear.
As such, we don’t get any pure gameplay scenes in this story trailer. But it can be said that many of these moments were captured with the spectacular graphics technology of Massive Entertainment. This includes, as expected, some sneaky moments. Also, there is some parkour, where you can even use a crutch to reach heights. Moreover, even the action scenes taking place in space can be dreamed of exciting star battles. This has been confirmed for some time, and it has been promised that there will be great opportunities for space exploration aboard the Trailblazer.
Worlds we will visit in Star Wars Outlaws
In the teaser video focusing on the story, we also got a glimpse of the different planets that we will be able to visit on foot or aboard a speeder, from which we can attack our enemies. “Kay and Nix travel the galaxy to obtain the raw materials and crew needed for the final strike,” reads the official description of the ambitious open-world action game.
“On their journey, they will visit new and iconic locations: Canto Bight, Kijimi, Tatooine, Akiva and the windswept savannahs of Toshara,” the latter world created by Massive Entertainment for Star Wars Outlaws.
If you noticed in the trailer, a small creature appears next to the protagonist. Her name is Nix, and as expected, she will be our most important ally in defeating the Empire and the other enemies we face. On the other hand, Vess will have other allies who may eventually form a smuggling gang on the protagonist’s ship. Although we don’t know any details about them yet, the video already gives a glimpse of some of their possible companions.
The first DLCs have already been revealed!
It has been revealed that Star Wars Outlaws will receive additional content after its release. Some of these come as part of the Season Pass. Which, however, will be included in the Gold Edition and the Ultimate Edition. Now it has also been revealed what content the Season Pass contains. Ubisoft’s website has confirmed that it “includes two upcoming story DLCs,” among other new features, which we’ll reveal below.
These are “two post-release DLCs” that continue to “explore the world of Star Wars Outlaws with all-new stories, missions and areas to explore.”
We don’t know the content of the expansions, but it wouldn’t be unusual for one to debut in 2025. Of course, after the release, we will be able to play an exclusive mission about ‘Jabba’s Gambit’. The Season Pass also includes a “Kessel Runner Character Pack, which includes additional cosmetics for Kay and Nix”. All this and more can be found in the Ubisoft Store.
