Electronic Arts Dominated European Game Sales in March with A Small Trick

In Europe, Electronic Arts has so dominated the game sales charts that it has taken six out of ten positions, which is quite a good performance.

In March, Electronic Arts, under the leadership of Andrew Wilson, attracted attention with a sneaky move. The publisher decided to upload a batch of games to Steam. Part of this batch is Command & Conquer The Ultimate Collection, which includes several C&C episodes, and because the number of fans of the real-time strategy franchise is not to be trifled with, Command & Conquer took FIVE places out of the top 10! In fact, if you look at the top 20, the situation is even stronger, with eleven out of twenty belonging to the franchise.

This was reported by Gamesindustry, citing GSD data. This takes into account most digital sales in addition to disc sales, but digital sales are not reported by 505 Games and Nintendo, so the list will always be a bit skewed. The best new game in the top 10 was Dragon’s Dogma 2 (Capcom’s title was released on PlayStation 5, Xbox series, and PC, and reached the third spot in two weeks), but it reportedly sold less than Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (if you look at two weeks of sales), even though Square Enix’s game was only released on PlayStation 5. In terms of hardware, it was down 27% from March 2023; the PlayStation 5 was the top seller, despite being down nearly 31% year over year.

European game sales top 10, March 2024:

  1. EA Sports FC 24 (Electronic Arts)

  2. Helldivers 2 (Sony)

  3. Dragon’s Dogma 2 (Capcom)

  4. Command & Conquer: Generals (Electronic Arts)

  5. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege (Ubisoft)

  6. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar)

  7. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (Electronic Arts)

  8. Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (Electronic Arts)

  9. Command & Conquer: Renegade (Electronic Arts)

  10. Command & Conquer: Red Alert (Electronic Arts)
