TECH NEWS – More rumors have surfaced about Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, which the Japanese company has yet to announce (and therefore we don’t even know the name), but we’re hearing pretty concrete details.
A Chinese manufacturer, Mobapad, has reported in a Facebook post, now edited, what we can expect from the successor to the Nintendo Switch. According to them, not only the current Pro Controller will be supported, but also the Joy-Con (we recently reported the opposite). The HD rumble will remain thanks to the ALPS dual-axis linear motor. However, the new Joy-Con motor will be smaller. In handheld mode, it will not be possible to connect the current Joy-Con controllers to the console due to a new horizontal magnetic docking system that will only be applicable with the new Joy-Cons.
Mobapad added that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have full retroactive support for both digital and physical (cartridge/card) versions of Nintendo Switch games. There will also be a USB-C port for docking, and there was talk of a next-generation dock. This will include minor design improvements (such as a metal bracket for better angle adjustment). The console’s display will be slightly larger than before (8″?) and will support 1080p resolution.
That’s why the manufacturer has written that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a conservative evolution, and instead of looking like a brand new console, it will have the look of a Pro model, which makes sense as it keeps the format familiar and consumers will be able to easily identify the Japanese company’s product, which will likely support Nvidia’s DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction technology (but not DLSS 3 or Frame Generation), equipped with the Nvidia Tegra T239 chip and 8 Cortax A78 Arm processor cores.
The announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 is still some time away, and there are already different rumors about when it will be available: some people have mentioned the second half of 2024, others early 2025…
