The Escape From Tarkov Studio Makes a Fool of Itself

Battlestate Games first pissed off players by making a new game mode payable for everyone (even those who bought the most expensive version of Escape From Tarkov so far…), but they managed to complicate things even more…

We’ve already covered some of the PvE gameplay and criticism, so let’s move on to the latest developments. On the Escape From Tarkov subreddit, Battlestate Games continues to defend its statement that the new game mode is not DLC: “DLC in our understanding is the major additions to the game, including various features and content that are released after the official release of the game as a themed DLC pack (Scav Life DLC for example, which will add a lot of new mechanics and content for Scav gameplay and leveling).” That doesn’t change the fact that the studio is asking $250 for the PvE mode, which will get you the game and all the DLC.

Then the studio goes on to say that the PvE mode is necessarily on a different network infrastructure because it means that PvE players are essentially playing in closed mode on the servers because they cannot currently offer the mode to the EoD audience because they don’t have the resources. So they don’t have the server capacity even though Escape From Tarkov has been in beta for over six years.

The studio promises that the capacity will be increased for the full release of the game, and then EoD players will get the PvE mode (but until then they would have to pay extra!). The mode will be sold separately, and EoD players will get a 70% discount. For EoD players, the temporary access, which is for six months, would only work offline, so servers may indeed be in short supply for Battlestate Games.

Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to release the game mode when you have all the requirements (including server capacity) to run it properly? Yes, but greed is strong.
