The Witcher 3 REDkit is software that brings together the tools used to create the game, and it is free of charge.
Although eight years have passed since the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED’s RPG still lives on in the minds of many. The Polish game, which concluded a highly successful trilogy, is still an example of how to make an open world. Modders still flock to it like religious fans.
In addition to the mods we have seen so far, even more complex ones can now arrive, as the game’s biggest and most promising modding tool, The Witcher 3 REDkit, has a confirmed release date.
If you remember, half a year ago the European company announced the arrival of REDkit. This is the tool that has everything you need to mod The Witcher 3 without limits. Now, after a very small test on Steam, it seemed that REDkit would take a long time to arrive, the Poles have surprised us. It will be available from May 21, which is an important date. Because (two days apart) it coincides with the game’s original release date in 2015!
A new dawn for The Witcher 3 mods
But what is special about this, if we have already received mods for the game? The truth is that while mods have been supported without a problem so far, and even CD Projekt itself has worked with modders to bring out the Complete edition of the game, the strength of the tool is that it “created” the game.
REDkit is the condensation of many tools and utilities used by the members of the CD Projekt team into a single software.
This REDkit, although in an early version and not intended for public release, was used by Philipp Weber, the game’s mission designer. He was ultimately the designer of “The Land of a Thousand Fables”, one of the additional levels in the Blood and Wine expansion. This allows modders to design unlimited tracks, animations, and missions. Moreover, they can even introduce new characters, such as armour or weapons.
For example, the “A Night to Remember” mod, which promised one of the game’s forgotten missions and was only seen in one of the game’s trailers, will get a “simpler” creation process when it’s ready starting this May. This way, you will be able to compete with the original missions of the game. However, it is worth noting that this is a tool that requires a certain level of knowledge. True, changes and user-friendly design have been made. But it will be worth learning and experimenting with it…
