Total War: Pharaoh Gets A Huge Update – Can It Finally Deliver What Was Promised Before Launch?!

According to the developers of Total War: Pharaoh, Creative Assembly, players can expect new regions, dozens of settlements and a much larger map, and it’s completely free…

The relationship between Creative Assembly and the community has hit some major bumps in recent months. But it seems that the development team behind Total War: Pharaoh is regaining the players’ trust. After announcing that it will ditch paid DLC and release free updates for the strategic title, users can prepare for a surprisingly large content package.

We’re talking about an update that opens up a world 1.8 times larger than the original Total War: Pharaoh map!

The expansion, as explained on the official Creative Assembly blog, is due to the introduction of new regions:

  • Mesopotamia: an area where there will be mountains, steppes and fields. It is worth noting that although the climate is dry, it is not entirely desert.
  • Aegean Sea and Troy: Sequel to Total War Saga: Troy, these regions are geographically characterized by the continent’s high mountains and a dry and hot climate.

A new world awaits the players of Total War: Pharaoh

In addition, the introduction of these locations also triggers the appearance of four great civilizations! (Which, among other things, invites you to shape the story with never-before-seen alliances or actions that are only possible in video games). However, the game’s new features are not only about the larger map.

The update includes 168 settlements, 94 additional factions, iconic locations of each region, and much more.

Creative Assembly’s announcement actually only focuses on changes related to the world; we will learn more details about the content package in the coming days.

With a map this large, Creative Assembly was forced to think of new ways to move troops around areas. Taking advantage of the fact that this world expansion takes into account the Mediterranean Sea, the developers have created “Sea Travel Lanes”. Here, both players and AI can increase movement speed. Moreover, the team did not pull this out of nowhere. After all, these waterways imitate the sea trade routes of the Bronze Age. If all goes well, Pharaoh could soon truly become the “Total War: Bronze Age” game it was promised at the time…
