Ghost of Tsushima’s player peak was 75,064 concurrent users on Steam, surpassing God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as the top players.
It’s only been a few days since the release of Ghost of Tsushima on PC, and we’ve already reported on the complete and immediate success of Sucker Punch’s open-world game. He managed to do all this even though the game is not available in more than 170 countries worldwide due to the closure of the PlayStation Network account.
However, that didn’t stop thousands of gamers from buying and playing the open-world action-adventure game in droves, and the reception to GoT is now stronger than expected.
Ghost of Tsushima has been one of Sony’s best-received titles on PC. Although sales figures are unknown, PlayStation boasts that Ghost of Tsushima has surpassed Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on Steam by 75,064 concurrent players, as well as God of War. If we turn to SteamDB, we can see where the numbers actually stand. (Helldivers 2, which leads the list, is not mentioned because, although it is distributed by Sony, the game was developed by the independent Swedish Arrowhead Game Studios.)

The key to Ghost of Tsushima’s success on PC
The key to the success of Ghost of Tsushima on PC is brilliant optimization. Players are positive about Nixxes Software’s handling of Sucker Punch’s open world in Steam reviews. With an 87% “Very Positive” rating, players still complain about PSN account binding. True, the latter is only required for the PlayStation overlay and Legends multiplayer game.
Another factor that sets Ghost of Tsushima apart from other PC titles is the combination of DLSS and FSR 3, rescaling technologies from NVIDIA and AMD, respectively.
These allow us to gain tons of FPS no matter what device we use (after Wccftech). Most of the time, we can only use one at a time, but mixing DLSS and FSR with frame generation allows us to achieve high FPS in 4K, 1440p or 1080p with little or no loss in visual quality. According to user BlooHooK, he achieved over 170fps at 4K with an RTX 3090.
