Path of Exile 2 will launch in Early Access at the end of 2024, as announced in a new trailer at yesterday’s State of Play.
Little is heard about Path of Exile 2 these days. But every bit of news that comes out about the promising fantasy ARPG is more than enough reason to be excited. PoE2 is being touted as a serious competitor to Diablo IV. Blizzard will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on what Grinding Gear Games is up to, since we are talking about a free-to-play game. However, we didn’t expect it at an event like State of Play, but now we have reason to be excited.
Path of Exile 2 surprised fans of the ARPG genre at Sony’s event, and it was also revealed that the console version (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) will have some very interesting features.
First, it was revealed that PoE 2 will debut in early access at the end of 2024 on both PC and the aforementioned consoles. Players will enjoy crossplay and cross-progression.
Grinding Gear Games’ title is also reportedly getting a console-exclusive co-op mode. This allows us to play the ARPG together with a partner, either through their account or as a guest, with HUD and on-screen inventory. The studio adapted the menus and inventory to the larger screens. For more information, PoE2 will feature a six-act campaign, a new gem system, 12 character classes, and more.
More Path of Exile 2 details
Grinding Gear Games has clarified that both Path of Exile and the sequel will live on separately. So, both will get extensions. The creators also said that each class has unique combinations of strength, dexterity, and intelligence. Thus, we can expect an extremely deep gaming experience. Especially since PoE2 will allow us to combine the abilities of different classes to create our ideal character.
