Path of Exile 2 – more three years to go

Even the public beta of Path of Exile 2 will not arrive for another “year or two”.

Delays are common in the world of video games, and it’s not unusual for a game to arrive three years later than initially planned. But the epidemic has also put many otherwise well-established developments on hold, so games like Path of Exile 2 will have to wait. As we saw on The Gamer portal, the creators themselves put the arrival date at around 2024.

This means that the release will be even further away than we thought. Fellow journalists quote Grinding Gear’s Chris Wilson, who says that Path of Exile 2 will arrive before 2024 at the earliest, with a public beta in a year or two. However, this is not surprising given that in early 2020 the game’s makers said it would be ready for 2022 at the earliest. But all indications are that development will be delayed even further.

The creative spoke on the Baeclast podcast about the current state of Path of Exile 2 and the challenges his team has overcome in recent months. He later talked about the details of the public beta phase, highlighting the two-year timeframe that means the worst-case scenario is that the game’s first test will be in the summer of 2023.

The developer has already completed about 90% of the first act and 75% of the second act. However, the game has seven shows in total, so there is still a lot of work. In the meantime, fans can check out the original Path of Exile, considered by many to be one of the best A-RPGs in recent years.
