Little Nightmares III: A Supermassive Delay

Supermassive Games’ game is taking a little longer to arrive, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the delay includes a change in some of the target platforms.

Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games have announced on Twitter that Little Nightmares II will not be released in the previously planned timeframe of 2024. It’s rare to hear a mid-year announcement that the game will be delayed, and the last time we heard something like this, the game ended up being a huge disappointment (as Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League followed a similar schedule last year).

“Hello little ones. Since the announcement of Little Nightmares III at Gamescom last year, we’ve been thrilled to see our community buzzing with excitement and anticipation. The teams at Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco Europe have been working hard to deliver the best possible experience for the next entry in the franchise. As much as we can’t wait for you to return to the Nowhere, we also want to make sure we give the game the care and love it deserves.

Quality is a top priority for us, and we know you feel the same way. That’s why we’ve decided to delay the game’s release until 2025. We’ll be sharing more about Little Nightmares III later this summer, so please bear with us and stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime, we’d like to thank you for your patience and continued support. Sleep well, little ones,” the announcement reads.

If they mentioned that they’ll reveal more about the game later this summer, it’s likely that Supermassive Games will pull it out of the closet during this year’s Gamescom, because if the announcement was here, it would behoove them to show it in a significantly refined state. But I could be proven wrong, and something could happen during Summer Game Fest…

Little Nightmares III will be released sometime in 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Will it be one of the launch titles for the Switch successor?
