The episode known as Resident Evil Zero has recently emerged as a possible project that Capcom is working on, and now we can get an idea of where exactly the new version of the story with two controllable protagonists could be made.
We’ve already reported what AestheticGamer/Dusk Golem posted on Twitter: he mentioned that he thinks the rumors about Resident Evil 1 Remake are nonsense, and that we should prepare ourselves for Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil Code Veronica instead, because he’s heard that they’re in development. But what is Resident Evil 0? (This is also the accepted name for the game, as the crossed out zero appears behind the name on the box art).
Resident Evil 0 was originally intended for the Nintendo 64, but was ultimately not released on the Nintendo 64 as development took longer, and it was finally released on the subsequent GameCube in November 2002. It, like the other early GC project, the Resident Evil remake, was released in an HD remaster a little over a decade ago. RE0 was special in that you could switch between the two main characters, Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen, at any time, and items could not be put in an item box, but often had to be left on the ground because of the limited space the two characters had.
Dusk Golem wrote this about the Resident Evil 0 Remake developers on Twitter: “From what I’ve heard, Resident Evil Zero Remake is primarily being led by K2 and M-Two (who were most recently a support studio for Resident Evil 4 Remake and developed its Separate Ways DLC). However, Resident Evil Code Veronica is at Capcom Dev 1 with many of the same people who worked on Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake. M-Two also developed the Resident Evil 3 Remake. It was released in 2020.
This is not official yet.
