In addition to artificial intelligence, Nvidia’s presentation at Computex 2024 also talked about RTX Remix going open source.
For Ubisoft Massive’s Star Wars: Outlaws, we already knew that Nvidia would support DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation in addition to Ray Traced Global Illumination and RTX Direct Illumination. However, it appeared that Ray Reconstruction would be left out as the studio would be relying on its Snowdrop engine denoiser technology, but Nvidia has confirmed that we will see its AI-optimized denoiser solution in the game, meaning DLSS 3.5 will be supported in the upcoming title.
Ray Reconstruction was first introduced in Cyberpunk 2077, replacing several technologies and improving both ray tracing and performance. Last year, Remedy Entertainment also released Alan Wake 2 with Nvidia DLSS 3.5 support, and the technology will be brought to Naraka: Bladepoint and Black Mythos: Wukong. It will also be included in RTX Remix, and Nvidia has announced that the AI-powered remastering toolkit will be open source in June. It will be available for use via the Rest API, so you can use it with Blender, Hammer, or ComfyUI. It will also be possible to use the renderers beyond DirectX 8, 9 titles with the new SDK for the RTX Remix Runtime, allowing modders to expand to DX10+ titles.
NetEase’s team-based hero shooter (characters with different abilities; Overwatch 2 is similar) Marvel Rivals, which will get a closed beta on PlayStation 5, Xbox series and PC in July, will also support Nvidia’s DLSS 3 (Super Resolution Upscaling, Frame Generation), so another game has chosen Nvidia’s technology, but it may also support AMD’s rival FSR.
