It says a lot about this PlayStation series that the last episode was released more than ten years ago…
It really feels like PlayStation has revived an old-fashioned series that was thought to be lost. There’s just one catch. Revival isn’t (yet) a game to play with, but rather a digital collector’s item to call your own.
Although this is obviously not the same as if a new game had been announced, but since the series has not been heard of since 2013, we can rightly expect that it would not have been released in this form if they did not have more serious plans for it.
The franchise in question, whose legacy would be important to preserve, is Sly Cooper. The series appeared with four games between 2002 and 2013, the first three of which were developed by the legendary Sucker Punch, who are also responsible for the Infamous series and Ghost of Tsushima.
But before the series returns, there’s something to remind you of this iconic action series: the Sly Cooper pin.
You can “buy” this download for 800 points to show Sony that you still have a lot of love for the retro character.
Fans are already talking about this badge. True, not exactly in a positive tone. Most people think PlayStation is “bleeding us all dry” with its many attractive downloads.
“Was planning on saving mine but I can’t pass up anything Sly Cooper related!” commented Redditor TheWarlockGamma upon seeing the badge.
Another user then commented, “I wish we could have them in real life,” apparently referring to the lack of physical enamel pins available for purchase.
This isn’t the only digital collector’s download that has become available. There’s also one related to Ghost of Tsushima, which I’m sure many people will exchange points for. Best of all, it doesn’t require PS Plus.
We sincerely hope that Sly Cooper, who is excellent in his genre and extremely entertaining, will return. Until then, this little tidbit can remind fans that Sony hasn’t forgotten about the game series either…
